August Update 2014
Date: 08/27/2014
We have been fortunate this summer with cool spells along the way, until the last couple of weeks which has been stifling hot. The other issue is dry conditions with very little rain in over a month.
As always, I caution residents to be very careful during this time and refrain from burning.
Recently, thefts have increased and although some have been solved with items recovered and returned, I ask you to be conscious of thefts and keep your property secure and out of sight as much as possible. Also if you are going away for a few days please do not advertise it on Facebook or other social media for thugs to see, and secure all you can before leaving.
It is common to find when investigating thefts or breaking and entering cases, victims do not have information on their possessions to assist us in recovering them. For example, it is most important for us to have brand name, model number, serial number, color, photograph, etc. kept in a separate area from the items.
As your sheriff, the staff and I want to serve you, the citizens of Oregon County. If you see some thing needing reported please take the time to do so. With your help we can keep Oregon County a safe and wonderful place to live.
We need your support to inform the county commissioners that you expect them to work with the sheriff's office for staff funding.
Thank you for your continued support and be safe out there.
