Summer Safety 2015

Date: 06/09/2015

Oregon County has been lucky this year as we have had a lot of rain and cool weather for this time of the year, as we enter the month of June it is beginning to get hot.

With this in mind I ask residents to be careful at all crossings and bridges with water over them. A lot of times people under estimate the depth of water and get into trouble when they attempt to cross. Also, if you plan on camping or floating our beautiful 11 point river please pay attention to weather forecasts prior to embarking. Ensure you select camp sites that you can safely evacuate from if needed without getting stranded or over run by flood water.

I ask you the citizens of the county to help be our eyes and ears. If you see something you either know or think may not be right, please report it to our office so we can investigate it.

A lot of children are out playing this time of year and/or walking county roads and highways. Please be conscious of this and drive safely.

There is a lot of slow moving farm equipment on the roads as we enter the hay season, so watch for them as well.

The staff and I at the Sheriff's Office enjoy serving you the citizens of Oregon County, and with your help we can keep this county the wonderful place to live that it is.

Thank you for your continued support and be safe.
